Class Format Options
What is the difference between the group course & online course?
The online course is a pre-recorded set of videos to complete at your own pace. The course is approximately 7 hours in duration but you have access to these videos for 24 months to watch as often as you like. You also receive access to resources such as birth videos, hypnobirthing MP3’s, an E-book and exclusive access to a Facebook group for parents enrolled in the Online program.
The in-person group course, is a comprehensive 12 hour course which is broken into 4, 3 hour modules, often taught over 4 classes or alternatively over 2 days. You receive a printed folio book of resources, as well as access to MANY online downloadable resources containing MP3s and much more. During the in-person classes the course is taught via audio-visual means, spoken explanations, interactive discussions and we practice it all, there, together, so you learn and know exactly what you’re doing.
How do I know if online or the in-person course would suit me better?
It’s really up to you. With the in-person classes we are known to have a lot of fun as we get very practical and hands on, and have lots of group discussions. Some people go on to make friendships with other couples which last long after their children are born. However, you might be more of a private person or even prefer more flexibility to go at your own pace using the online course, and perhaps have a 90 minute session with Carly to solidify and practice the hands on techniques later. For some people work and other commitments can make it tricky to attend set classes, so the Online course may be the best option for you. It’s totally up to you and how you prefer to take in information. There is also the option to do half in-person and half online
Can I switch from online to in-person classes if I change my mind?
Absolutely! However there is a price change associated with this as it then involves practitioner time, room hire and further materials etc.
We offer a Half online/half in person option if you know in advance that you will be unable to make one of the days.
When purchasing the online course don’t forget there is also the option to purchase a 1:1 upgrade of 90 mins or 3 hours with Carly to go over anything from the online course if you wish. That time can be tailored to your personal needs.
Does Carly, of Portal 2 Life, run all of the courses, online, private & group?
Carly runs the in-person group classes, and the private 1:1 classes (either in person or over zoom). The online course is pre-recorded by the founder of Hypnobirthing Australia, Melissa Spilsted. With the purchase of the Online course, you have the option to add on a private 90 minute or 3 hour consultation with Carly (in person or over zoom), to ask questions, cement the techniques or go through anything you’d like to clarify. That time is customised to your needs.
What are the benefits of adding on the consultation to the online course in your packages?
The online course is limited without the IMPLEMENTATION of the techniques. We practice the techniques taught in the course so you can be confident that you’ve understood them correctly. We also utilise this time to cover any topics which you’d like further information on or didn’t quite understand in the course. You can utilise this time with a qualified Midwife to cover any areas you desire which are of interest to you specifically.
Cesaerean Course Questions
I have completed the online Hypnobirthing course already but am now going to have a c-section, how can I prepare for this?
Our online Change of circumstance course has been prepared for this very reason. This course will cover what to expect in regards to having a caesarean, and how to utilise the tools you have already learned, so you can still have a positive birth experience.
I’m leaning towards requesting a cesarean for my birth but really like the sound of the Hypnobirthing course, will this course prepare me for both?
Absolutely! There are two options here which will give you the best of both worlds, preparing you for both vaginal and caesarean birth.
You could do the in-person (group or private) Positive Birth Program, followed by the online Change of circumstances course. OR, you could choose the Online Value Pack, which consists of the online Positive Birth Program AND the online Change of circumstances course. The online option also gives you the opportunity to upgrade to a 90 minute or 3-hour, one-on-one custom session with Carly.
I am booked in for a c-section is this course worth it for me? Do I really need something like this?
Hypnobirthing Australia has been the pioneer in creating the special Positive Caesarean Birth program. This is very similar to the Positive Birth Program but has been specifically adapted for use in a pre-planned elective caesarean birth, giving you all the tools, knowledge and support to prepare for an empowered caesarean birth.
Class Time & Scheduling
When is the best time during pregnancy to start hypnobirthing classes
Anytime is possible! Having said that, between 20 – 30 weeks is ideal. This allows time for the course to be completed and also gives you time to practice the tools and techniques so that they become second nature ready for your birth
What if I'm already in my third trimester - is it too late to start?
If you are outside of the 20-30 week recommendation, please contact Carly, as we can work out a possible intensive option for you if needed. ITS NEVER TOO LATE! Determination is the key factor when it comes to hypnobirthing success.
How flexible are the private session times?
The benefit of the private sessions is that you can co-ordinate times with Carly directly, that are mutually convenient. This might be weekends, Sundays, evenings or even during office hours. Contact Carly to discuss your unique situation.
I completed the Positive Birth Program over 2 years ago. Should I attend the whole program again?
If you have previously completed the Hypnobirthing Australia Positive Birth Program then there is no need to sit the entire course again. We offer a 3 hour, privately run refresher course specifically for this purpose. Remember there is also the option to purchase the online course plus a private 90 minute or 3 hour session.
